Beauty Talk: Baby Shower Makeup

Beauty Talk: Baby Shower Makeup

I’ve talked about shopping my stash recently while I was putting together an eye shadow look that I wanted to wear to my sister’s baby shower. I thought that something with pink and purple would be a fun change from the eyeshadow looks that I’ve been going for all winter and that it would be the perfect spring look that would work for baby showers, Easter and other spring-time events. I had the purple that I knew I wanted to use, but I was all set to head to MAC when I thought, “I’ll just shop my stash!” I pulled out two pinks that I used to use all of the time and started playing around with different combinations before I eventually landed on this one.

I usually don’t give myself enough time to get ready (and on the day of the baby shower I overslept and only had a half hour to do make-up, hair and get dressed) so I wanted something that would also be simple. I tend to go for simplicity in make-up anyway. I’m sure you all know that I love make-up and I love putting it on, but I tend to prefer simpler looks with two, maybe three colors. I also enjoy more complicated looks, but only once in awhile. This look was as simple as it could be. After putting on an eyeshadow primer, I put Swish (the pink) all over the lid and then blended Trax (the purple) into the crease. To finish off the look I used the Line Stiletto liquid liner from Maybelline on the upper lash line in a very slight cat eye and I put Urban Decay’s 24/7 eyeliner in Rockstar on the waterline. I used the Voluminous Butterfly mascara.

What’s your perfect spring eye look?

Also, I was interviewed by my friend Kathryn Farritor as part of her Blogger Dirty Little Secrets series and the interview went up today. Go check it out! And look at the other interviews in the series, too. I’ve had fun reading them.

On this day I was tired after a long week and my least favorite holiday. My bed was oh so comfortable. I forced myself to roll out of bed and journey to the dam. It was filled with people and I was pokey…taking my time to get there and even journeying down one of the other paths to avoid walking across the dam. (Which isn’t long.) I finally joined the crowd and walked across. And then came back, happy to have made my weekly journey. This is when the top layer of the water started to freeze.
