Erika from Chimerikal who hosts the GRAD-ITUDE 101 linkup prompted everyone to look back at 2013 this month and to think about what/who they’ve been grateful for this year, so here goes…
Little One, of course, makes the list. At this time last year we had been dog and dog owner for only a few short months, but now she’s been with me for over a year and I’ve just come to love her more and more. If I’ve had a bad or stressful day, she always puts a smile on my face as she rolls over for tummy rubs and wiggles her entire body in excitement. She’s the sweetest dog and the best companion. I’m so lucky to have her as my dog, to be her human, and I’m grateful that having a dog is everything that I thought it would be and so much more.
There are my parents, who go above and beyond for their family and always have. I’m so lucky to have them.
My siblings who are always supportive and encouraging.
My niece, who is officially in the double-digits as of her last birthday, who is so much fun to have around and is so kind and caring. And my nephew, who is just as delightful and is growing up right before my eyes, too! I can’t forget my oldest nephew, who’s always fun to have around, though I don’t see him often.
And then there are my friends: Mary, whose late night texts always make me smile and Sarah, who loves books and TV just as much me. Erin, who shares my love of horror and Lisa, who I don’t see and talk to often but when we do we pick up right where we left off. There’s Heather, my favorite mermaid. We met in the most miserable semester of French ever–not kidding, it produced major anxiety for pretty much everyone involved. We bonded over mutual love for art, writing and mermaids and now we’re still meeting for weekly mermaid power lunches and have lots of exciting plans in the works.
I’m grateful for the new books I read this year that still linger in my mind. For the green smoothies that I drink (almost) every morning. For makeup, which allows me to start my day with a burst of creativity. I’m grateful for coffee and biscotti and tea. I’m grateful for the new artists I discovered this year who inspire me; for the online classes that have helped my art and writing grow. I’m grateful for clean water to drink and a warm roof over my head and the warmest snow boots that help keep my feet dry. I’m grateful for the freedom to attend church and countless churches for me to choose from. I’m grateful for blogging and for meeting all of you.
2013 has been a wonderful year and I’ve had a lot to be grateful for. I’m looking forward 2014 and continuing to follow all of your blogs. Thank you for taking the time to visit my little space on the web!
