A Snicker of Magic by Natalie Lloyd is a middle grade novel about a girl who arrives in her mother’s hometown, which once was magical but no longer is due to a curse. Please read the actual summary, as it is the reason I went out and bought the book on release day.
Book Review: A Snicker of Magic, by Natalie Lloyd

I absolutely loved this novel. There was the fun, magical town with a curse aspect that had me hooked to see if and how they’d break it, but this story had a heart too. I loved that this story explored different family dynamics and even talked about important family members outside of parents and siblings, like aunts. (Says the aunt.) I fell in love with each of the characters, including the little dog in the novel, Biscuit. I’m not going to lie, this novel had me tearing up from time to time and I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a novel that will stick with you for awhile after reading. I can’t wait to pass this off to my niece.
