reading…
I have moved onto book three of the Escape from Furnace series and it keeps getting better and better! I’m excited to get to the end because my book buddy at work was sad when he finished the last book of the series.
watching…
I started watching Game of Thrones over the weekend and I am loving it so far. It’s not one that I can’t stop watching it, but I look forward to it when I have some downtime to watch TV. But maybe that’s just because I don’t have the time to watch it endlessly right now… if I did, it might be another story. 🙂
creating…
Painting! Lately I’ve been loving painting so I make sure that I work painting into my week, even if it’s just for 20 minutes here and 20 minutes there. I talked about what I’ve been painting on Monday.
make-up…
Makeup has been super minimal this month because it’s been a busy one (sleep > makeup), but I’ve been pulling out the Naked Smoky palette when I have been using eye shadow.
learning…
To create time for the things I love.
listening to…
A lot of music.
Trip Lee performed at the National Night of Prayer earlier this month, so I’ve been listening to his music a lot. And I also saw Harry Connick Jr., so he’s been on repeat as well. A couple of weeks ago we sang a song by Audrey Assad at church, so I started listening to her music after and I love it. She does a lot of hymns and what excited me as soon as I saw it on one of her albums is that she has a version of “Abide With Me.” That has always been my favorite hymn, but I can’t remember the last time I’ve heard it, so I’ve been listening to it on repeat ever since I discovered it.
I thought my mom would like Audrey Assad’s music and since “Abide With Me” is my favorite song I played that for my mom one night. She said she used to sing it to me when I was younger. I’ve always wondered why I like that hymn so much, so now I’m wondering if that’s why. 🙂 It was fun to listen to the song with my mom and talk about a hymn that we both love.
Happy (almost) June! It’s crazy to say that haha. I hope you have a wonderful upcoming weekend.
xoxo, Jenny
Happy June! It’s so crazy that we’re already halfway through the year. 🙂 Have a wonderful week!
Learning to make time for things to love can be a lot more difficult than it seems like it should be! Glad you’re learning to embrace that time!
It really is more difficult than it should be! The more I do it the more I realize how important it is.
That’s really cool about finding that song that your mom used to sing to you.I also loved the paintings you have been doing. I’m probably one of the only people that hasn’t seen Game of Thrones yet, but I watch too many other shows right now.
Yeah, it was really cool to find out that she used to sing it to me. It must be why I’ve always liked it. 🙂 Thank you! I’m glad you like what I’ve been painting. 🙂 There are so many shows to watch! It’s always hard to choose when I’m ready for something new.
Haven’t popped by recently and thought it fine time to do so. Glad to hear that you’re enjoying painting as much as you do. Don’t you find it calming?? I unfortunately don’t have any creativity bones in my body. I was never blessed like my father – he could draw, sew, paint, you name it. Me? HA! Not a chance. I took after my mother and we both make stick people look awful! hahahaha!
If I don’t chat with you tomorrow, have a great weekend Crystal! xo
Hi Lindsay! It’s good to hear from you! I need to make my way over to your blog again soon. I’m currently making my way through my Bloglovin’ feed to get caught up with everyone. I’ve been so out of touch recently!
Yes! Painting is so calming! I really love it and it’s helped me to stay sane during some stressful times. My grandmother was a painter so I guess I got some of her artistic talent. I just asked my uncle if he has her easel (he doesn’t know what happened to it, unfortunately) and he said he was happy to hear that someone else in the family is painting again. My grandmother painted and a different uncle of mine painted. 🙂
Have a great week!
I’m reading a ton of romantic suspense to get more familiar with the genre, because that’s the next novel I’m working on. Makeup has been minimal for me too because when it’s hot I don’t want a lot on my face, but I’m loving my Mary Kay cream eyeshadow. I dab a little on and it stays all day! I just started watching Blue Bloods last night and I enjoyed the first episode. I’m trying to watch less to better enjoy the other things in my life.
That’s awesome! You’ll have to give me some recommendations, because I haven’t read a book from that genre for awhile! I did see a book by Liz Wiehl on one of your posts recently and I have a few of her books. They always look interesting, so I buy them when the ebook goes on sale, but I haven’t read one yet. I need to do that!
I’m with you on the heat and wanting less on my face! I like to spice things up with a bright lipstick during the summer and leave everything else as free from makeup as possible.
I’ve heard great things about Blue Bloods. I’ll have to add it to my to-watch list.
I wish I was good at painting, but I’m horrible. I went to one of those Wine and Canvas things with a friend… and mine was so bad. Even the “teacher” hung her head in shame. My husband however, agreed it was bad and said he is going to hang it on the wall hahah!!
It sounds like you have a great husband!! I love that he’s planning to hang it up!
I love Game of Thrones, it is really the only show I watch.
It’s such a fun show! I haven’t been able to watch it for the last couple of weeks because of busy days but I’m looking forward to diving back into it over the weekend!
