When I looked at my list of books read in May, my favorite book without a doubt was Veronica Mars: The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line, by Rob Thomas and Jennifer Graham. I reviewed this on my writing blog last week, but I’ll run through a few of my thoughts here. This novel picks up shortly after the movie ends and it does have some spoilers, in case you haven’t watched it yet. References to the show were sprinkled throughout the novel, which made this longtime fan incredibly happy. The mystery was engaging and there were a few surprises along the way. I think this will be a hit with Veronica Mars fans and would be appreciated by people who haven’t watched the show, too. Enough backstory is explained to understand for those who aren’t familiar with the show, but I didn’t think it was redundant to listen to as someone who has watched the show countless times. If you’re a fan of the show, I highly recommend listening to the audiobook because Kristen Bell narrates. She did an amazing job.
