Happy Friday! Was this a long week for anyone else? It felt so long and exhausting for me and I encountered a lot of people who felt the same way. But the weekend is finally here and we can finally relax. I’m looking forward to lots of puppy cuddles!
Since I’ve been a little tired this week, this list is a little lackluster. I guess that’s how it goes, though. There are ebbs and flows for everything.
Gratitude
Even though the week felt long, there were a lot of good things too. For this I’ll go with one of the smaller highlights, but still a highlight–grabbing a Nilla-Mint Latte from Misfit Coffee on my way into work one day. It’s a latte with subtle vanilla, rosemary and mint flavor and it’s the best thing ever.
Watch
Two videos from Dave Conrey that I thought were motivating for the start of a new year! He put them out earlier this year (maybe at the end of last year), but I just watched them this week. Just Call Me Master and How I Kill Procrastination.
Eat
Over the weekend I went through the takeout section on Damn Delicious and spent a few hours in the kitchen to make veggie lo mein, baked sweet & sour chicken, potstickers and cream cheese wontons. My recommendation is if you tend to cut back on sugar in recipes (I do!), don’t do that with the sweet & sour chicken as I found the vinegar taste to be a tad too strong. It was all so good! This meal and Bridget Jones’s Diary was the perfect night in and I highly recommend it.
Creative Pursuit of the Week
I realized that I haven’t actually read much this year, so my focus for the week was to spend some time reading each day. I guess it perfectly coincided with a low-energy week and it felt good to get some rest and “fuel” with reading. As Stephen King says, “If you don’t have time to read, you don’t have the time (or the tools) to write. Simple as that.”
Tell me about your week! What have you been reading, watching, cooking, creating? What were some of the highlights?
[Tweet “Tell me: what has inspired you this week?”]
I really love that Stephen King quote about reading – and writing! Reading daily is a great goal. I try to do that too. I find it really helps me unwind at the end of a long day, too.
Me too! It’s one I always think of when I put off reading, because there is so much truth to it! And I agree about reading at the end of the day. It totally helps me unwind.
That is SUCH a great picture of Mina rolling in the snow. I love the light as well… 🙂
I hope you have a fab weekend and get some rest, girl. XOX!
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it! I absolutely love it. I have so many pictures of her rolling in the snow, but the light was perfect that day. 🙂
I had a great weekend and was able to get some rest. I hope you had a wonderful weekend too!
You’re right, the light in the photo is exquisite. 🙂
I had SUCH a nice and relaxing (read lazy) weekend; it was glorious. I’m glad you had a great one, too! 🙂
Awww what a wonderful list and I love that Stephen King quote!! Adorable picture of your pup — so sweet! It did feel like an especially long week and I’m so glad the weekend is finally here <3
Also that veggie low mein sounds delicious!! XOXO and have a great one, momma!
Thanks Charlotte! It sounds like there are a lot of people who felt like the week was a bit long.
It’s fantastic! I highly recommend trying it out. My parents tried it and said it was so much better than anything we’ve purchased from restaurants. 🙂 I hope you had a great weekend!
Great post! And yum! That latte sounds delicious. That Stephen King quote couldn’t be more on point and is a good reminder that I need to really get it together and start back up reading. I had been reading the Infernal Devices series (I feel like I’m a little too old to be reading YA books, but whatever. I’m young at heart), but took a hiatus after finishing it. And I’m super jealous of the snow. Down here, in Georgia, it’s like 78 degrees and I’m 27 weeks pregnant and it. is. sweltering. Please send snow! Haha
All of those recipes sound delicious. I love a good home cooked take out meal.
Great post! It’s always cool to see what’s inspiring other bloggers. The Nilla-Mint Latte sounds so good!
Oddly enough I was inspired by the rains washing away most of the 13 inches of snow.
That quote about reading/writing is on point! I think I need to stop by the library… haha
