Happy July!

Happy July!

Hello everyone! It’s July! Can you believe it? I know that I’ve pretty much been saying this at the start of every month this year, but seriously. I remember when I was younger and it felt like time moved so slowly, especially if I was waiting for something. But now time just flies by. Although, a few days ago I was thinking back to the end of last July when I began my dog search. I met Little One at the end of July and found out that I was going to get her at the end of August. I was able to pick her up a month later. But that two month period seemed so much longer than it actually was. Maybe it’s anticipation that makes time drag on sometimes?

Speaking of when I was younger, I used to live out in the woods when I lived in Wisconsin (or, at least, it felt wooded compared to where I live now) and we had deer outside all the time. They used to eat the flowers in my mom’s garden and I always thought it was funny. Recently we’ve had some deer in the backyard. I’m sorry that the above picture is a little blurry. I was trying to take it without catching the attention of Little One. She was already on alert because we could hear the deer eating the bushes. The deer have also taken to eating the flowers of my hibiscus plants. I understand now why my mom wasn’t as amused as I was that the deer were eating her flowers back in Wisconsin, but it is really nice to look outside every once in awhile and see a deer meandering through the yard. They’re so beautiful! I’m fairly certain Little One only sees them as an intrusion, though. Here she is on the lookout for more.

Layout and Bloglovin’

You may notice that I have a new layout! I have never been happy with mine and I think it’s one of the things that has been holding me back from posting as much as I want to each month so I finally decided to get a new one. I have been eyeing layouts from The Blog Milk Shop that I’ve seen on other blogs so I decided to get one and I’m really happy with it! Also, you can now follow my blog on Bloglovin’. Just follow the link on the side.

Things I’m Loving: June Edition

I have been obsessed with a few songs throughout all of June. I have listened to them so much that I have barely listened to Harry Connick Jr.’s new CD, which was also released in June. Those of you who know me know how big that is. I love Harry Connick Jr.’s music so much, but there’s something about this collection of songs that just drew me in. You don’t have to worry, though. Once I realized I had only listened to the new album once (yes, only once!) I started listening to it right away. The songs that I have been listening to are all of the songs that were part of the Hit List musical on season 2 of NBC’s Smash, so basically any song with Jeremy Jordan and Krysta Rodriguez. My favorite of all of the Hit List songs has to be Reach for Me by Krysta Rodriguez, which has been on repeat countless times. I was such a RENThead back in high school and Hit List reminded me of it so much. It didn’t help that Jesse L. Martin had a role on Smash, too.

July Goals

1) Read 8 books.
2) Write 50,000 words. That’s right. It’s Camp NaNo time!
3) Take more pictures with my DSLR. I keep thinking that each month, but this month I actually need to do it.
How are all of you?

On this day I was tired after a long week and my least favorite holiday. My bed was oh so comfortable. I forced myself to roll out of bed and journey to the dam. It was filled with people and I was pokey…taking my time to get there and even journeying down one of the other paths to avoid walking across the dam. (Which isn’t long.) I finally joined the crowd and walked across. And then came back, happy to have made my weekly journey. This is when the top layer of the water started to freeze.
