You now that feeling that you get when you read a really great book? All you want is to live in that world with those characters. When you have to put the book down to go to work or take the dog out (or take care of your family, if you’re not a single dog-owner like me), it fills your every thought and you count the seconds until you can pick it up again. If you actually have to leave the house and be social, you just sit there and think, “Why can’t you be {insert names of characters of choice here}?
That’s how it feels when an idea that’s been lingering in my mind starts to take shape and get to the place that I need it to be before I can sit down to write. And that’s where I’ve been all week; living with my two characters, jotting down notes and ideas, making lists of names until I chose the two that I wanted to use. Changing them the next day. (They just didn’t work.)
All of this happened just in time for NaNoWriMo! Follow my progress here.
It just hit me right now that NANO had started! I don't think I will do it this year (I was on the fence for a while but I think I will sit this one out). Still, exciting for you and I love hearing about this experience you're having with the world you've created! 🙂
There's nothing quite like the feeling of reading a great book – and it's always sad when it's over isn't it??
