I’ve been writing all day. I had quite a few interruptions, too, what with my phone buzzing constantly with incoming text messages and emails. Oh, and I took a break to go out for lunch with my mom. But other than that, I’ve been at the table writing. All. Day. Long.
But it paid off, because look at that sparkly new badge on my Camp NaNoWriMo profile. I WON!!! (I feel like confetti should be raining down on me right now.) What does winning Camp NaNoWriMo mean, exactly? It means that I wrote 50,000 words this month. (Woah! When I wrote that I totally heard one of my cabin mates singing each time she crossed a 10,000 word threshold on her daily YouTube vlog updates.)
(Speaking of my cabin mates, in June we didn’t talk much at all, but this month I was in a new cabin and three of us were checking in regularly on the message board and they were AWESOME! I loved how everyone rallied around to motivate and congratulate each other on milestones. So, if you read this, thanks guys! You two rock!)
That’s right! I have 50,000 words of a new novel and I’m pretty stoked about it. I love, love, love this novel. It’s not done yet; but I’m a little over 50,000 words and my estimate is that by the time I finish I’ll have around 60,000 words. And then the time will come to edit this mess of a novel.
I officially validated my novel around 8:30 tonight and ended up with 51,118 words total. My writing marathon didn’t end, though. Next I had to pull out a short story and work on some edits to it because I’m planning to actually do something with that short story and I need to do something with that short story soon. Now I just need to do a final read-through but I’m thinking that I should probably walk away from my computer now and let my eyes rest. If there’s anything that needs to be fixed in the story, I most likely won’t see it right now anyway. I can go back to it (and my novel) tomorrow.
So, that’s how I am spending my Friday evening: with me, my computer and my words. Exciting, I know. What are all of you doing to celebrate the end of the week?
congrats eyelashmoments! :+)
you were an awesome contribution to the cabin!

What a great post! I loved being in a cabin with you, too, and I'm glad you enjoyed my happy dances. ^_^ We made it!
YAY! Congratulations! What a great accomplishment! Good luck with your next steps.
CONGRATS! You're amazing!! Way to go on finishing! That must feel completely awesome. I think you're definitely deserving of a nice rest– until, I'm sure, the writing bug gets you again. ♥
