This is a feature that I wanted to start on my blog last year. I had posts like this penciled into my schedule regularly starting in July, but I always swapped them out for something else, because my sketchbook isn’t perfect. Since I’m embracing imperfection in my writing and my art in 2015, I decided that I can no longer swap out these posts for something else. So, here’s my first sketchbook post of 2015!
My niece and I had a girls night in December and we spent a lot of time drawing. I really didn’t have a plan when I pulled out the pastels, but I liked the drawing that I put together until I added the tracks. I wish I had done those a little differently, but oh well.
I enjoyed drawing the tree in my last sketch, so I decided to draw some more. This was a quick and fun sketch. When I think of it, it always looks a little different in my mind, so I’d like to redo it the way that I visualize it now.
This was my Christmas day art project as I watched a bunch of Christmas movies. The inspiration for it is a decoration that my mom had up for the holidays and it was fun to recreate it with colored pencils.
I’m not very confident with paints and I’d like to become more comfortable with them. This was a little something that I put together as I started to play around with different ways to do backgrounds.
Do you have a sketchbook? What’s in yours?
I always enjoy your work!! 🙂
