Each month (in an ideal world) I look back through the photos that I took on my phone and I’m reminded of all the little moments that took place. Those moments that made you smile. Or maybe even those moments that irritated you, but you can look back on them and see that you got through it; they’re over and behind you and they seem like they happened so long ago. For some, they might even be the moments that bring joy in a dark period. Some of them might be part of a bigger memory, and some of them may have been forgotten. But they’re beautiful moments… they show the beauty of every day life.
So instead of looking for the best of the best photos for a grand post, I want to share all those moments. Some of the photos are a little blurry–quick snaps as I went about my day. I didn’t edit out Mina’s eye goop in a few. They’re real life.
In July and August, the little moments looked like…
…an escape room outing with the young adult group at the church I work for. We finished the room with 18 minutes left on the clock in the second hardest room. The owner was more excited than we were and gave us a tour of the rest of the rooms.
…a quiet moment in the sanctuary when I stopped in to grab a photo of the light on the pews and saw this.
…my first time at First Ave. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to get to such an iconic spot in Minneapolis, but I finally saw Prince’s star in person!
…for Livin’ La Vida ’90’s! Dancing to ’90’s music all night is the best. Highly recommend.
… a water leak in the closet that was definitely more frustrating than anything else at the time.
…but the area that no longer has carpet can be covered in rugs and was scheduled to be replaced soon enough anyway.
…a visit to a cute, older for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
…with ice cream afterward.
…a day when a carrot was rejected.
…a chance to hang out with my friend and her baby.
…with a smoothie and an inspiring new mantra the next day.
…a visit from an old friend.
…and the chance to meet a new one. We’re BFFs now.
…celebrating my nephew’s birthday.
…a visit downtown to see the new Nicollet Mall.
…and attend Facebook Community Boost.
…and a chance to see this gorgeous view of the Foshay Tower.
…Little One makes every day special.
…I mean…
…my niece’s request for an English breakfast during our Harry Potter movie marathon weekend.
…if you’re wondering what mornings with Mina look like, this is it.
…she hurt her paw that weekend, but it healed fast.
…a birthday cake for Harry Potter’s birthday.
…and watching my niece fangirl over the movies. Also seeing her use the blankets I bought specifically because she loves to wrap herself up in blankets while watching TV.
…need I saw more about this one?
…we tried out a Butterbeer recipe.
…and a pumpkin juice recipe.
…a frosty mocha at one of my favorite coffeeshops with the roommate.
…dinner, movie, and appetizers after to wait out the rain with friends.
…this guy. 💙
…helping a friend with her meal swap. It was supposed to be quick, but still took a few hours.
…she’s the best.
…my hibiscus is blooming and beautiful.
…an extended family dinner as we celebrated the life of my aunt and mourned her death.
…wine and Wisconsin cheese with my family. We had a few hours with just my siblings, my parents, and me. That doesn’t happen very often.
…Mina resting her head on the table is always adorable.
…a turkey feather found in the basil.
…a moment of being “carried.” Earlier that week I read this Instagram post from Audrey Assad about being carried by God and if it’s actually a thing and, if it is, what it looks like. It’s something I really identified with. In it, she talked about the moments she feels carried and after I read the post I experienced two moments where I felt carried. This was the second. Both involved rain.
…I take pictures of every bloom… and most of them end up on my Insta stories.
…weekly goal setting with my roommate.
What were your little moments from the last few months?
[Tweet “Let’s take time to celebrate the little moments.”]
Oh I love posts like this! Loving seeing unedited, real life photos! definitely going to do something like this on my blog in the future!
Loving this concept of walking down the memory lane through beautiful photos. And I’m a die-hard fan of 90’s music as well. 🙂
I love that you go through your “moments” each month, the bad ones, and the cutest ones too. I’m so sorry about the leak in your closet, but im stoked you got to be around all of the cute puppies 🙂
Definitely a neat idea! I love it!
You are so right- there’s beauty in imperfections and that’s what life is full of. Thanks for the inside “real” glimpse into your life.
YES, let’s celebrate the little moments! Also, your pup is adorable 🙂

Lots of great little moments 🙂 I love those escape rooms too, so much fun!
You had lots of great moments. The puppy looks pretty cute too! Such pretty hair.
Other than the water damage, it seems like you had a lot of awesome moments! I love that you had a Harry Potter cake!
I love this idea for a post and it sounds like you had a pretty nice July and August overall. Mina is just adorable – love all those photos. I LOVE that you had an HP movie marathon with your niece and made food – and that cake!! So cute. 🙂

oh my goodness what a fabulous idea for a post- i love just taking and looking back at the month and enjoying the SMALL and LITTLE things that it brings 🙂
I love, love, love posts like this! Life is all about the smaller moments, and sharing the things that meant the most to you, even if they don’t always look “amazing”. These are the kind of photos that will bring the most happiness when you look back on them!
This was cool! How awesome you saw Prince’s star I was a huge fan growing up!
You definitely have a great scrapbook of your life from some great moments. Precious dogs! And we had a water leak, too. Horrible.
What a fun filled time. I love that you were wizards with the Escape Room.
Looks like you had such a fun couple of months and your fur babies are adorable!!
This is such a cool idea – I love seeing a snapshot of what your life looks like!
I love all of these little moments! I may have to start a post like this! How was Jurassic World? I’ve been wanting to see it. Ice cream sounds delicious. I’ve also never done an escape room but always wanted to!
so many great moments! I love that you had a cake for Harry’s birthday haha!! I spy a Nalgene water bottle too!
I adore this post. You seem so fun!
I love all the dog pics and the new friends you made. I always make friends when I go out and I much prefer the four-legged kind over the two-legged ones (well, most of the time, that is! lol).
Wait, what?! Mina didn’t munch up a crunchy carrot?! What. Is. Happening. Carrots and crunchy romaine lettuce are like gold at our place. 😉
