My sweet little puppy had a bit of a tough weekend, you guys. Her BFF-who-doesn’t-know-it-yet (aka, my canine nephew) came to visit for the weekend and he will have nothing to do with her. She tries to instigate play and he walks away. The only time he does give her the time of day is if he’s growling at her. She walks in from outside and there he is with a little growl. She tries to say hi to the person whose lap he’s sitting on and again with the growling. (He really is a sweet dog and I love him a whole lot, but he’s getting a little grumpy in his old age.)
Little One’s Weekend

That she can handle, but this weekend she also had a vet appointment. It was time for her yearly heart worm test and she had to get a couple of vaccinations. One of them takes her out for the day. She’s fine for a couple of hours afterward, but then she gets sore and lethargic. Last year I watched her like a hawk all day long to be sure that my parents were right and she really would get through it. Having been through that once, I wasn’t too concerned this year, but I still don’t like seeing my puppy curled up on the couch or in her crate with no desire to move around. Her crate was her safe haven this week, because along with her BFF, my niece and nephew were over too. They have endless energy! Until bedtime, that is.
And on top of the vaccinations, she has the start of an ear infection, so I have to give her a medication that she hates twice a day. Here’s hoping that the medication will clear the ear infection up right away!
Other than that, it was a lovely fall weekend. It was rainy, which I love. I spent one day making my favorite tomato soup. Whenever I make this it reminds me of my childhood best friend. I remember eating–and loving–tomato soup at her house, but if anyone else tried to give it to me, I wouldn’t go near it. I avoided tomato soup until I worked at a café that had the best tomato soup I had ever eaten, until I tried this recipe. This is one has a bit of a bite, but it is definitely tasty, especially with a grilled cheese sandwich or a black bean and cheese quesadilla on the side.
I also made my first pumpkin baked good of the season. I made these pumpkin chocolate chip scones, which are delicious, but I think I overworked the dough a little. I kind of forgot to put the chocolate chips in until I was getting ready to cut the wedges. Oops!
How was your weekend?
Awwww poor little furry cutie. I hope this week is better for her than the weekend was 🙂
Last week was better for her and this past weekend was fantastic, so I think things are looking up for her now. She'd like to be done with the ear infection medication though!
