Happy Friday! Who is excited for the weekend? I know that I am! I don’t have a lot of plans and I’m hoping to keep it that way. I’d like to spend some time immersed in a few of my favorite things: reading, writing and art.
I’ve decided to switch up my Friday posts a bit. I’ve been doing a lot of Things That Made Me Happy This Week posts. I love those, but I wanted to change things a little. While I still plan to focus on the things that make me happy each week, I want to focus on each of those things a little bit more. So, let’s get started with the first A Peek at the Week post!
1 // Kickboxing. I decided that I wanted to add kickboxing to my workout routine, which was pretty much all dance workouts. The Divergent series movie marathon that I had recently may or may not have had something to do with my sudden need to add it into my routine. And by that I mean, it totally had something to do with it.
I’ve always had an interest in kickboxing, but haven’t actually done it for a long time, so thanks to Divergent, I finally decided it was time to incorporate it into my workout routine again and I’ve been loving it! I bought a set of three DVDs and I tried a new one in the set on Monday. I loved every minute of it… and totally felt the workout the next day!
2 // Reading. Like I said, it’s been a busy week, which could easily stress me out, but one thing I’ve been doing every night is opening a book to read. A few nights (like Tuesday, when I had an evening meeting and didn’t get home until 8:30) I don’t think I read more than a page or two before falling asleep, but it still felt good. I always feel less stressed and more grounded when I take time to read–even if it’s just a few minutes a day.
3 // Little One’s wagging tail. I’m sure by now you all know that I am so grateful for my dog and her presence in my life. She always graces my happy lists in one way or another but this week I really enjoyed her wagging tail. I mean, I always do, and I have plenty of opportunities to enjoy it. It seems like it’s always wagging: when she walks, when you say her name, when you say “puppy” (she knows you’re talking about her), when you look at her, when you give her a tummy rub… it’s just always going! My brother once said I should find a way to put a broom on her tail so that the floor would always be clean. Her wagging tail never fails to put a smile on my face.
4 // A Writing Class. I took a writing class on Saturday. It was about the business side of writing and it’s geared more toward the next step for a completed manuscript that I have. Not only did it inspire me to take that next step with this novel, but I used the novel I’m currently writing for our writing prompts in class and it helped me flesh out more of the details. Double win!
HOW WAS YOUR WEEK? WHAT MADE YOU HAPPY?

ps – I can be hit or miss on my Facebook page, but I’ve been in the Facebook zone this week. I read and loved a bunch of blog posts this week and scheduled to post a link to one a day on Facebook next week (as well as some this week). Go take a look!
That writing class sounds really great. Where was it/how did you find it? Also I’m in a play with opening night tonight so we’ve been busy all week with dress rehearsals and this weekend will be filled with performances!
It sounds like you had a great week. I enjoyed hearing about your writing class! Little One is absolutely adorable, and I know she makes every week happier!
I love that you wrote about the writing class you took, I’m participating in one in the next few weeks and it makes me even more pumped to know you got something out of yours!
I’ve always wanted to try kickboxing!! One day!!
Your puppy is adorable!
It’s always a blessing to have a great week, or even a day, or an hour. Acknowledging it is the main thing! My week was pretty special as my husband was at “turkey camp” at our cabin with a few other guys and he got a jake on the first morning. With him being gone I was able to have some special moments with friends I hadn’t seen in a while (and just eat popcorn for supper instead of cooking …= ). Life is good all the way around!
Your dog is adorable. Painting an old chair made me happy this week and updating our front door area is something I’ll be working on for the next few weeks.
Our dogs is definitely something I’m always grateful for. Can’t imagine life without dogs.
Writing class! Wow. That’s something I need to add on my to-dos.
What a lovely list! Thanks so much for sharing 🙂 I love that you took a writing class and that it helped inspire you in our own endeavors. This has been on my list of things to do FOREVER. Thank you for the kick-in-the-arse/inspiration 🙂 XOXO and here’s to a great week ahead!
