This will be Random Ramblings, the bookish/nostalgic edition, because…
1 // For the past few months I’ve missed being at college. I don’t know why. I mean, hello, papers. Actually, it’s not so much the papers, but the deadlines. I didn’t like the deadlines and occasionally writing a paper on a topic that I didn’t like. But I loved what I studied and I have missed digging deep and analyzing different texts.
2 // I’ve also missed having a built in critique group with my creative writing classes.
3 // And today this nostalgia is enhanced by a conversation with one of my coworkers yesterday. We actually attended the same university and both walked away with degrees in English. Yesterday we started chatting about college and totally geeked out English major style.
4 // And then we discovered that we both took a creative writing class with an amazing creative writing teacher. She said, “My friend and I took a class and had this amazing teacher! His name was…” As soon as she said his first name, I finished with his last name, because he was one of the best teacher’s I’ve had. He provided so much encouragement and when I talk about writing and fiction, I still use phrases that he would use in class. It’s a small world!
Adorable!!
It really is a small world!
