First, I’d like to share that Heather and I met for a mermaid power lunch today to discuss Minnesota Mermaids and we are so excited!
Today is Road Trip Wednesday, which is organized by YA Highway. It’s been awhile since I’ve participated in one of these but as soon as I saw the prompt I knew that I had to do it. This week’s question is: What song would you love to see a book based on?
One song that has inspired me creatively ever since I first heard it is “The Haunting (Somewhere in Time)” by Kamelot. It’s an absolutely gorgeous song that I’ve choreographed dances to as well as planned out photo shoots inspired by the song. The photo shoots were planned down to the exact costumes (I had the specific dress for the female and knew how to put together the costume for the male), had a couple different locations to try and the time of the day all planned out. My photo shoot went along with storyline that I had created for it. That was before I found out that the entire album (along with another of Kamelot’s) is loosely based on FAUST by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, which made me love the song even more. (Although I’d still do the photo shoot the way I originally envisioned it.) So I think a novel based off of this song would be amazing.
For a song that isn’t based off of a story (as far as I know) I have always loved “(You Want to) Make a Memory” by Bon Jovi and that song has always conjured up specific images for me too.
(I purposely went with non-music videos for the links to the songs, since music videos usually create a story for the viewer.)
What song would you love to see a book based on?
I would LOVE to see a book based on the classic "American Pie".
That's a great choice!!
Hmmm, let's see. I would perhaps love a book version of Loreena McKennitt's "The Bonny Swans." It's actually an established ballad and I would love to see a YA novel based on it.
