The 2014 Directive: April

The 2014 Directive: April

I know I say this every month, but did this month fly by for anyone else? Like faster than usual? Because I can’t believe that we only have less than a week left in March. I’m still a little shocked when I look at the calendar.

Since it’s the last Wednesday of the month it’s time for The 2014 Directive. Looking back at March, I wanted to write 31,000 words (1,000 words a day). I’m currently sitting at 20,000, which means I should be on track to finish by Monday. (I get a bulk of my writing done at night on weekends, but I plan what I’ll be writing throughout the week.) However, I have a busy weekend coming up so I might go into next week a bit, which is fine with me. If I finish within a couple days of my goal I’m usually satisfied. I was also going to blog once a week on my writing blog and…that didn’t happen at all! That whole month speeding by thing? The blog posts were always at the back of my mind, but I kept thinking, “I have plenty of time!” whenever I had to prioritize tasks on my to-do list.
I’m really excited for April’s Directive! A few months ago I went on an enrolling-for-classes spree on Skillshare and I haven’t completed any of them. And I decided that needs to change. I have three classes that I need to complete by the end of the month: watercolor, hand-lettering and tutorial-making. The water color class will be a weekend task for me, as that seems to be the best time to pull out water color supplies. The other two classes will be spread throughout my week. I’m really excited for these classes, as I think they will help me as I focus on my word of the year (create) throughout the rest of 2014.
What is your goal for April? If you’d like to participate in The 2014 Directive, or if you just want to see what everyone else is up to, visit Jessica’s blog for the linkup.

On this day I was tired after a long week and my least favorite holiday. My bed was oh so comfortable. I forced myself to roll out of bed and journey to the dam. It was filled with people and I was pokey…taking my time to get there and even journeying down one of the other paths to avoid walking across the dam. (Which isn’t long.) I finally joined the crowd and walked across. And then came back, happy to have made my weekly journey. This is when the top layer of the water started to freeze.
