I stopped by Sephora over the weekend and they were featuring their Divergent palettes. When they asked if I wanted to have them try out one of the looks on me I requested Dauntless and it was a gorgeous smokey eye. I haven’t seen the movie yet and probably won’t for another week or so, but I’m looking forward to it! Have you seen the movie?
I took Little One to the groomer yesterday to have her nails clipped and it was adoption weekend at Petco. Hearing the barking of all those dogs looking for homes always breaks my heart, but the cashier told me that most, if not all, of them go to new homes. I watched three walk out the door with their new owners. And then there was one who had to make a trip outside; he was cute and double the size of Little One–more than that, actually. He was friendly as could be, too, and he wanted to become friends with Little One. But she had just had her nails clipped and had her mind on one thing only: going home. Somehow, their leashes wound up twisted together and Einstein was standing over my sweet puppy, drooling all over her. The volunteer thought it was hilarious and adorable and I couldn’t find a way to get to Little One, who at that point was shaking and whimpering, until one of the ladies from the rescue organization came outside and saw what was happening. She came running over saying, “No, don’t let him play with any of the dogs coming in!” So they both pulled Einstein away from Little One and I was about to thank the lady from the rescue organization when she said, “You never know when the other dog might turn on him.” I just looked down at my sweet, little puppy who was wide-eyed and covered in drool, thinking, “Like that is actually a possibility.”
So that’s the story of our trip to the groomer. After that, we went home, I wiped the drool off of her fur and all was right in Little One’s world again.
READING Nocturnes: Five Stories of Music and Nightfall by Kazuo Ishiguro and I absolutely love it. I picked it up on a whim last week. My coworker wanted to run to Barnes & Noble to get Never Let You Go, so I tagged along and saw this one. I’m so glad that I did.
WRITING blog posts. Trying to get ahead.
LISTENING to a Dracula audiobook. I have been loving this too!
THINKING about all the work that I need to get done this week.
SMELLING vegetable minestrone soup on the stove.
WISHING there were more hours in the day to spend reading. There are so many good books out right now.
HOPING for warmer weather this week. I haven’t looked at the weather forecast for the week yet.
WEARING my un-brushed hair in a really messy bun. I’m going to pay for that when it’s time to take it out.
LOVING sunflower seed butter. It must smell just as tasty as peanut butter, because Little One goes crazy when I open the jar, just like she does for PB.
WANTING a cup of coffee.
NEEDING to pull out a pair of shoes so that I don’t default to winter boots since that’s all that I have by the door right now. The only time I encounter ice is when I take Little One out to the ice rink that we call our backyard.
FEELING very relaxed after a low-key weekend.
