If you didn’t watch Dancing With the Stars on Monday, you should watch this dance. And if you watched Dancing With the Stars on Monday, you should watch this dance again. Amazing!
Last week I looked up handbag organizers on Amazon and as I searched through the different options discovered the wide world of different types of organizational tools. I went crazy, you guys! I added tons of things to my cart and eventually narrowed it down to just a few things that I thought would actually come in handy. I started to plan a weekend of organizing my bedroom and was so excited! (I’m serious. I was excited to spend the weekend organizing my bedroom. I must be getting old.) And then I realized that I had other plans for the weekend. I actually had to go out and be social instead of shutting myself in my room. I know. Sad, right?
Except that my weekend plans were actually a lot of fun. On Friday my best friend and I went out for dinner and a movie to celebrate my birthday. At dinner she gave me this moisturizing wax that I am super excited to try out! I think once I finish my organizational project I’ll celebrate by watching a movie, putting on a facial mask and seeing what this is like.
After dinner we went to the movie theater. We had planned to see The Big Wedding, which was really the only movie in theaters right now that either of us wanted to go to (except for Gatsby, but Sarah and I have plans to see that). Once we got to the theater we found out that they had actually canceled the showing that we planned to see for Star Trek, so they offered us free tickets to another movie. We decided that we’d go to Star Trek. Mary didn’t think that it was her kind of movie but I thought I’d probably enjoy it because I enjoyed the first one when Sarah made me go see it with her. Both Mary and I enjoyed the movie! There was a lot of action and it was funny. We didn’t see it in 3D but I think that the only time that I missed it was during the opening sequence.
On Saturday another friend and I went to the Minnesota Author Event, which was an event held downtown with a bunch of indie authors. I’ve been to book signings before, but not like this where there was a roomful of different writers. It was a lot of fun to walk through and meet everyone. I had my friend lead the way because I had only read books by a couple of the writer’s and she read books by most of them. There were a few awkward moments when we reached a table with a writer that none of us had read, but for the most part everyone was chatty and the event was a lot of fun. The highlight for me was meeting Nichole Chase, who my friend Laura put me in touch with last year when Heather and I went to Mer-Palooza so that we could take some swag for her upcoming mermaid book with us. She was just as sweet in person as she was by email and it was really nice to meet her.
Once Sunday rolled around I was able to start my organizing project. It’s not finished yet, but I made a lot of progress. It was a rainy day, so I opened the window, turned on season eight of Desperate Housewives and organized while Little One slept. It was a great ending to a fantastic weekend.
Aw! Sounds like a great weekend! BTW I love your wrist band thingy! How do I get one?!?!?
I got it at the author signing. Nichole Chase was handing it out to promote her book Flukes. 🙂
I'm going to check out some purse organizers too– I have some pouches that I keep in my bag but an organizer would probably be, well, more organized.
I love that wristband!
I'm seeing Star Trek tonight (probably). Excited! Too bad they canceled your movie though.
I love the organizers that I bought! I can easily see what bags I have and they're hanging nicely in my closet. 🙂
Thanks!
You'll have to let me know what you think!
Sounds like a wonderful weekend!! I am seeing Star Trek Sunday 🙂
Have a great holiday weekend my friend!!
