Travel Make-Up Bag // Colombia Edition

Travel Make-Up Bag // Colombia Edition

A small make-up bag for a trip to Colombia with products from Too Faced, Urban Decay, Benefit, Tarte, MAC and Kat Von D. // dreams-etc.comNote – I purchased all of the products listed in this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own. No affiliate links were used in this post.

I knew I wasn’t going to wear a lot of make-up in Colombia, but I enjoy putting make-up on in the morning so I wanted to have some with me. I also wanted it all to fit into one make-up bag. This array of products allowed me to vary my make-up look throughout the week and I still had room to spare in my bag.

A small make-up bag for a trip to Colombia with products from Too Faced, Urban Decay, Benefit, Tarte, MAC and Kat Von D. // dreams-etc.comI brought my all-time favorite foundation, the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation. It’s the foundation that I think looks and feels the best on my skin and I knew I’d want my tried and true foundation while running around a foreign city. To top it off I use the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish, which ensures that my foundation stays in place. I’ve been really happy with this product and would definitely buy it again when I run out, although I’d also be open to trying something new. I opted to skip concealer for the trip… I wasn’t looking for flawless coverage and, to be honest, I kind of like it when some of my “flaws” peak through. I feel more human without a flawless base.

A small make-up bag for a trip to Colombia with products from Too Faced, Urban Decay, Benefit, Tarte, MAC and Kat Von D. // dreams-etc.comI had originally planned to take a different eyeshadow palette alongside my make-up bag, but I really wanted it all to fit in the bag and I knew I wouldn’t need a bigger palette. I didn’t use every shade in the Too Faced Natural Eye palette as it was. I kept eyeshadow pretty simple while I was gone and mostly used Silk Teddy on the lid with Velvet Revolver in the crease, but I did swap out Silk Teddy for Honey Pot one day. I love this palette because I can create all of my favorite neutral looks with it and it’s nice and compact. For blush I took along Benefit’s Rockateur which has been my go-to blush lately. I’m usually not the biggest fan of blush, but this one has been a fave ever since it first came out. It adds a nice flush to my cheeks without being too much.

A small make-up bag for a trip to Colombia with products from Too Faced, Urban Decay, Benefit, Tarte, MAC and Kat Von D. // dreams-etc.comMascara and eyeliner are two products that I reach for even when I decide not to wear most others. I brought this nice travel-sized version of the Benefit Roller Lash mascara, which is one of my favorites. For eyeliner I brought a couple of options, all from Urban Decay: Perversion, Tornado and Roach. Tornado is my favorite of the bunch, but I forgot to sharpen it before I left and I forgot to bring my sharpener with me, so I stuck with Perversion most days and threw Roach into the mix when I didn’t want as bold of an eye liner look.

A small make-up bag for a trip to Colombia with products from Too Faced, Urban Decay, Benefit, Tarte, MAC and Kat Von D. // dreams-etc.comFor the lips, I brought two of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks in Lolita 2, a shade that I always receive compliments when wearing, and Berlin, for a pop of color. These are so comfortable, they don’t transfer and they stick around for quite a while.

HAVE YOU TRIED ANY OF THESE? WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCTS?

I’m really interested in the MAC powder you mentioned! I’ve never really had/used a setting powder for my makeup, so it never lasts very long. Have you tried any others like it?

I haven’t tried any other high end powders like this, but from the drugstore I like the Rimmel Stay Matte powder and it’s really affordable. The only downside with it is since it’s so affordable the packaging is really flimsy so it falls apart easily. I’ve also had the product break up a little in the packaging and I wanted something that I feel better traveling with/throwing in my purse for the day if needed. So I switched to the MAC one. I picked it up in November or December of 2015… or maybe right away in January of this year, so it’s lasted quite a while. 🙂

I love that Too Faced Palette! I also really like Benefit mascaras but I’ve only tried the They’re Real one so far…

Haha, yes! This has actually become my normal look recently too, although sometimes for vacation I’ll do more since I tend to have more time. 🙂

Yes, definitely! The quality of their products are well worth the price. And really, when compared to other brands that also cost a bit more they’re on the cheaper side. 🙂 Thanks! I hope all is well with you too.

I’ve never tried any of these products but everyone keeps raving about Mac (and yes, I realize, I’m very late to the party! HA). Will definitely have to make a trip to Sephora. I also love that you took as little as you needed but that it all came in handy; my kind of girl 🙂

You need to check out MAC sometime! I’ve been using their products for at least ten years now. I love them. 🙂 And yes! I used to overpack cosmetics, but this time I decided to limit what I took and I was happy to see that I used it all.

That’s the bad thing about reading make-up posts! You find things to add to your shopping list. 🙂

I don’t have a full post on the Benefit Roller Lash mascara. It’s a newer product that I discovered within the last year. There are a couple of mascaras that I like to rotate through so this is a new one that has been added into the rotation. 🙂

I need to invest in small eye shadows like you have here – my favourite palettes are huge and don’t fit in my travel makeup bag. 🙁
I’ve heard good things about Too Faced’s Natural Eye – I’ll have to give it a look before my holiday in September. 🙂

These are definitely go-to travel eyeshadow palettes for me. Too Faced is a great brand to look at for smaller palettes like this, because they have so many and these palettes won’t break the bank. Let me know if you decide to try out the Natural Eye palette or any of their others. 🙂

Liquid lipsticks are a must for a travel make-up bag! I love how they stay on all day long. I always try to take as little as possible with me when I travel, especially on beach trips.

When I travel I don’t like to haul around all of my makeup either! Urban Decay makes the best eyeliners.

They are the best! I hate how most eyeliners smudge and give me the raccoon eyes look, but most Urban Decay liners don’t.
