Writing Night

Writing Night
My friend Sarah and I have always talked about setting up writing days where the two of us get together and spend the time writing. Last week we finally scheduled one writing day a week for the next few weeks.
If I have time when people come over I like to make dinner (and sometimes I’ll bake something too). This time I made Baked Ziti with a recipe from The Pioneer Woman.  If you like pasta and cheese, you should take a look at this dish!  It was delicious.  Even Little One couldn’t help but take a peak after we left the table.
(Side note: I’ve decided to change Le Chiot’s blog name to Little One.  I call her that sometimes so it fits more.)
Sarah came over on Friday and… well… we didn’t get a lot of writing done. We talked a lot and looked stuff up on the internet. We also spent time working on blogs; she started hers and I spent time fiddling with the colors of the layout of mine (I’m never happy with layouts). We watched the pup stare at us through tired eyes, begging us to wrap up for the night so that she could go to bed.
But, we both pulled up the starts of novels that we wrote a few years ago for NaNoWriMo. Neither one of us actually completed the challenge that year but I’ve found that even I don’t make it to 50,000 words the challenge was beneficial because I always have the start of a story to return to. I read a few sections of the novel that I pulled up and had to laugh at some of the sentences that I wrote. It’s obvious that I was trying to meet a word count!

I’m excited to get back into this story in 2013. It’s about halfway done now so I created a writing plan for the next few months and should have the first draft finished soon!

Wonderful picture! She looked so annoyed by the end of the night!
I'm glad we did it though! It helped me get my focus back and return to being excited about writing! Plus you finally got me to try blogging again, which I'm actually enjoying!
    Next week though…writing, writing, writing!!!
